2011 promises to be quite exciting.
On Sunday, I buzzed out (about an hour earlier than necessary, I was that stoked to see everyone) to the Carolina Horse Park to get a glimpse of what this year’s new talent had to offer. Advanced through Beginner Novice…riders were out in force for the Pipe Opener I….a ‘you choose’ of dressage tests, show jumping…followed by a X/C schooling for many that could still feel their fingers by afternoon. (it was chiiiilllly). Since Walter and I have allowed ourselves a mini vacation to allow me to fully pursue Northwood and this new life; I have an even deeper appreciation for the time I get to spend around manure and dirty boots. That said, Sunday did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see these riders go around this year; new riders with old hat horses, old hat riders with fresh young rides; and new riders with brand new partners just trying this amazing sport on for size! If you’ve never taken part (as a rider or a spectator) in the sport of Three Day Eventing, you’re in for quite a treat during this year’s blogging. I’ll follow each event at the famous Carolina Horsepark (www.carolinahorsepark.com) and chronicle the wins, near wins, and great learning opportunities (because there’s no such thing as losing if you got to ride that day) that our riders meet with each competition.
With that – a few captures from Sunday featuring a local favorite of mine, Will Faudree. You can find Will’s website at www.willfaudree.com; and read his amazing story. Best of luck this year to all of our riders!
